The Morganton (and now Asheville) based Catawba Brewing Company has been contributing to Western North Carolina’s craft beer and brewing history since it’s founding in 1999. For their 15 year anniversary, Catawba is hosting that most quintessential mountain celebration, a good old fashioned Hawaiian Luau. And in keeping with the Luau theme, Catawba will be releasing the popular King Coconut Porter, which will also be available in cans for the very first time.
So break out your best (or worst) Hawaiian shirts and your favorite sandals and head over to Catawba’s Biltmore Village taproom at 63 Brook Street for a one of a kind Island Party. Moe’s BBQ (from just down the street) is roasting the pork, and in addition to the King Coconut, Catawba will be pouring as well as a few other previously unreleased beers. The Island music of Con Tiki will be adding to the festivities as well. Catawba is really cranking out the events for Asheville Beer Week, with impressive schedule of events throughout the week. Even if you can’t get to today’s luau, be sure to check out some of their other events.
Happy Anniversary, Catawba – here’s to 15 more!
