Founded in 1980, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is one of America’s first craft breweries, helping pioneer the “American” style of brewing with such iconic brews as the Pale Ale, Celebration Ale, Bigfoot Barleywine and the popular Torpedo Extra IPA. And with every changing season you’ll find fans everywhere delighting in Sierra Nevada’s fantastic seasonal selections and innovate, exceptional small-batch beers.
Sierra Nevada’s innovation in the brewhouse is seconded only by their passion for sustainability—particularly energy creation, water and material conservation, recycling and waste reduction. In 2012 Sierra Nevada announced that the Chico, CA based brewery would build a new eastern U.S. expansion brewery in Mills River, NC. In just two short years, the 185-acre Mills River site now hosts a state-of-the-art brewery that will deliver their signature beers to fans up and down the eastern seaboard.
In the Spring of 2014, Sierra Nevada commenced brewing operations at the new facility. Although not quite ready for visitors, the Mills River brewery will undoubtedly become a top pilgrimage site for beer lovers world-wide when the planned restaurant, tasting room, tour experience, gift shop, and live music venue begins serving visitors in the fall of 2014.
