This weekend, the artists and studios of the famous River Arts District (RAD) present their bi-annual Studio Stroll in Downtown Asheville, where more than 170 artists across 25 buildings open up their studios for two days of art, creations, demonstrations and great family fun.
Enjoy Asheville artistry at its finest during the Summer Studio Stroll. It’s a great event to engage with local small businesses and artists, and you’ll be able to get meaningful presents for your loved ones that are locally made and totally unique. The Studio Stroll only takes place twice a year, so get out there this weekend and get your stroll on. We definitely recommend you check out our shopping sponsors Curve Studios and Garden.
Getting to and around in the River Arts District is a breeze. Accessible by car from Downtown, West Asheville, and Biltmore Village, there is plenty of parking. If the scale of 170 artist and 25 buildings seems daunting, RAD has a free trolley shuttle to help you get around. You can catch the free trolley at any of the stops listed on their website map.
Once you’re done shopping, congratulate yourself on the thoughtfulness of the gifts you’ll be giving and head over to Wedge Brewing (locate in the heart of the River Arts District) and order up one of Wedge’s tasty Apricot Pale Ales they released this week. They’ll be open at noon both days!
If you want a completely RAD weekend, Friday night you can stroll on down for a FREE RiverLink River Music Concert. It’s Americana/Roots night with the UK’s “Treetop Flyers” and the “River Whyless.” Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and the party goes until 10. There will be beer from local craft brewers, including music sponsors Catawba Brewing, New Belgium, Sierra Nevada and Oskar Blues. Food trucks will also be available, and all this with the waters of the beautiful French Broad flowing right by the stage.
