This week, Burial Beer Co.’s closes in on their first anniversary brewing beer in downtown Asheville, and as that date approaches Burial announces a special bottle release just for the occasion. Anno Domini MMXIV (from the latinate calendar convention we more commonly see as A.D. 2014) is a special barrel fermented and aged Saison with Plum and Apricot that comes in at 8.5% ABV, making it a excellent summertime dinner pairing with local cheeses and fruit.
This is a very limited release for Burial, with just two hundred 750ml bottles available for sale at $17. The label art was commissioned by Burial from illustrator by David Paul Seymour, noted Minneapolis-based freelance artist and illustrator. The first 20 people who purchase bottles will also receive a special limited edition screen printed poster signed by the artist, with additional posters on hand for purchase as well. Purchases are limited to 1 bottle per person.
Bottles will be for sale at the taproom starting this Saturday, June 14, 2014 in celebration of their big 1 year anniversary. Bottle pre-sales officially start at 1pm when the taproom opens, and will be distributed at 2pm when general sales start. Staff will be on hand to direct people who arrive before 2PM as to where to line up to purchase bottles. Music will be provided by The Big Nasty Jazz Band, which will be cranking the tunes out on the back deck at about 7:30. Burial will also be releasing a special wild ale series as well as pouring some older collaborations that are no longer available.
It’s been a big year for Burial Beer Co., who have had a great freshman year as a part of Asheville’s brewing community. Since its opening, Burial has consistently produced top quality beer, introducing visitors to their signature brews and creative zymological experiments. Moving forward, Burial will be getting a little bit bigger, recently announcing the purchase of a shiny new 10 barrel system. The timeline for brewing on the 10 barrel system is currently scheduled for late July/early August, and we’ll keep you updated as events progress. Expect to see Burial’s reach expanding to more taps at restaurants and bars once the new system is up and running.
