It came as a bit of a surprise to us, but this weekend is when we’d normally be reveling in downtown Asheville (or, if you’re a bit more of the curmudgeon, avoiding downtown Asheville) for the Bele Chere Festival.  The festival is gone, but that’s no reason to stop the celebrations, because Highland Brewing is throwing a new beer festival this weekend! Taking place in the meadow behind the brewery, the 1st annual Ale Share Beer Festival takes place this Saturday, July 26 from 1-6 pm.

So, what’s going to make Ale Share unique in the seeming myriad of festival choices throughout WNC?  For starters, 100% of ticket-sale net proceeds will go a very worth cause, and one that Highland holds near and dear to their hearts.  Funds will be designated for the Asheville Parks & Greenways Foundation to help develop the planned greenway along the Swannanoa River in East Asheville.

This festival also shows off the best of our WNC regional brewers, showcasing some of the Asheville and surround breweries most talented brewers and their creations.  This brewery line up is a veritable who’s who of favorite breweries you’ll find along the Asheville Ale Trail…currently scheduled to appear are:

  • Asheville Brewing Company
  • Bear Waters Brewing Company
  • Catawba Brewing
  • Pisgah Brewing
  • French Broad Brewing
