Over the years, generations of artists have been inspired by Asheville’s natural beauty, and our arts community is one of the many reasons Western North Carolina is such a great place to live. People visit Asheville from all over the world to drink in our craft culture and artistic community. The attachment of craft to our culture, it can be argued, is also why Asheville became such a great place for craft breweries, and in recognition of our areas close attachment to the arts, Highland Brewing is hosting the Crafted Kegs event this weekend as a way to give back to Asheville’s arts community.

highland-brewing-kegAs part of Highland Brewing’s 20th Anniversary event, Asheville’s oldes brewery honors the art community by showcasing local arts & crafts organizations in a fun way and to say “thank you” to the arts community. Highland Brewing provided the kegs (sorry, they were all empty) to nine area arts organizations (listed below) to decorate in their own unique way. The kegs were turned in this week, and will be on display at the event, with attendees and a panel of judges voting for their favorites. The votes will be counted and two winners (a judge’s choice and people’s choice) will each receive $500 in prize money for their organization!

Food trucks and live music will be available at the event, and there will be a community keg for everyone to help decorate! Some come down to Highland this Saturday and join them to help celebrate the best of Asheville’s Arts & Crafts community, and support your favorite organization (and have a beer or two!).
