Wicked Weed Brewing’s Funkatorium on Coxe Ave. was the setting for the Asheville Ale Trail’s 3rd Scouting Party of the year – and what a great one it was…

Thursday night some 30 enthusiastic beer fans, ranging from certified cicerones to sour beer virgins, were treated to a tour of the barrel house from Rich Kilcullen, the Cellar Production Manager at the Funkatorium.  After the tour, Rich lead the group in a special four flight tasting, guiding everyone into the bold world of sour beers and giving us all a greater appreciation of the complexity of flavors, the difficulty of the process, and a better understanding on what exactly it takes to produce these amazing beers.

Thanks again to Wicked Weed for helping to produce such an amazing event, and helping us learn more about the power of sour!
