Fall at the gorge

There are so many cool things to do in and around the Mountains of Western North Carolina, and some of these things we just have to share…plus – they pair perfectly with #AVLBeer.

Our friends over at The Gorge offer a unique and thrilling tree-based zip line canopy adventure through the famous Green River Gorge in Saluda, NC, about 30 minutes south of Asheville . With 11 zip lines, 3 huge rappels, and a sky bridge, The Gorge drops an unprecedented 1,100 vertical feet from start to finish giving you a unique perspective of the 14,000 acre Green River Gamelands.

With the leaves in full fall regalia, the picture above is just a sample of what you’ll experience.  We went and tried the Gorge out during the spring and were amazed by the views. Whether you and your friends are looking for something totally new to do, or you’re here visiting and are looking for an won’t-ever-forget family friendly experience, then this is something you should check out.

Once you’ve finished zipping through the trees, you’re returned to the lodge where you can sit out on the deck, take in the views and even grab a beer (or two).  The Gorge has a few beers to serve up (post ride, or course) including top signature brews from Oskar Blues and Sierra Nevada.

This time of year gets busy so you HAVE to call ahead or make reservations on their website.  If you’re interested, you should start making plans today!
